Still, the only other issue that perturbs me is the installer insists on un-installing 2.6.x I just re-install it each time after I install 2.8. Glad the developers made 32-bit plugins backwards compatible and most of my python plugins and also Script-fus work too (only a few mm python plugins bug out, and I think it has to do with 64-bit GIMP since other folks have no issues with them and I believe they still are using 32-bit GIMP 2.8. No problem with SVG files either AdmFubar. Not sure how to get G'Mic to work with it. But it did not show up when I opened my gimp. No difference.Any other suggestions as to how to go about getting this to work?Did you installed the packages for the libfftw-3 as well ? it is required by the plug-in. This is when trying to compile zart. I had to edit the Makefile for the alternative opencv lib names (that was after installing lots of packages, with google-ing based on the errors - all fairly trivial).Unfortunately, right at the end it fails with:And this is after doing a make clean and typing make again. Looks like I'll have to try compiling from source.This wasn't too painful. I have 15.10.0 installed on my system. This tells me it (the latest linux 64 beta) is looking for libpng12.so, and not finding it. Hooray!Also, if you are only interested by the plug-in only (and not the command line tool 'gmic'), then you can just type 'make gimp', and it compiles only the plug-in.In this way, no needs for OpenCV or all other 'exotic' dependencies, and of course, the compilation time is way faster. I'll try copying over from one Makefile (from src) to the other).-lopencv_core -lopencv_highgui -lopencv_ml -lopencv_imgproc -lopencv_objdetect, and that did the trick.Copying the executable to my plug-ins directory now results in a working GMIC.
